Huella humana

This installation was created in a bathroom, with gold chains wrapped around the taps and sanitary fittings so that they can no longer be used in the usual way; in return, the space acquires a lustre it did not previously possess. Placing chains around the taps and fittings adds more metal to areas that are already metallic, yet the new material renders them unusable. Until now, the taps and cistern mechanism were the key elements that made it possible to use water in this space; the chains now blocking them prevent them from functioning. Whereas the metal mechanisms of the taps once enabled a conscious use of water by allowing them to be opened and closed, the excess metal surrounding them now prevents any movement at all.
