sound

Sound, as a physical wave, requires a material medium through which molecules can vibrate. Beyond what we perceive as audible sound, sound waves surround us, pass through us and alter us. Although the Western concept of music reaches back to the Greek term μουσική, the art of the Muses, for the artist both human-made sound and the soundscapes created by nature are vibrational sources that can be used as agents of transformation.

Just as harmony, melody and rhythm created by human beings can move us while their sound waves pass through the body, the same is true of any soundscape in which we are immersed: according to its vibrational qualities, we experience its effects.

With this in mind, the artist has composed music whose primary aim is the search for inner wellbeing, while the works in the soundscapes section explore diverse environments and the different effects that harmonious — or otherwise — soundscapes can have on human beings.
